GREEN VALLEY, Ariz. -- D.F. Penrod, 82, of Green Valley, formerly of Cairo and Springfield, Ill., died Saturday, March 22, 1997, in Green Valley.
He was born July 18, 1914, in Thebes, Ill., son of B. Fred and Elsie Penrod. He had been a captain in the U.S. Army and had retired after 40 years as manager and insurance agent with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Springfield.
He is survived by a daughter, Ellen Abell of Chicago; a son, Robert Penrod of Annapolis, Md.; two sisters, Geneva Banks of Paducah, Ky., and Virginia Wieting of Villa Ridge, Ill.; two grandsons; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Francis Episcopal Church in Green Valley. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
