Dewey Grant Larmie, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Life Care Nursing Home.

He was born March 20, 1931, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to Chester and Tula Perry Larmie.

Dewey was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Korean War.

He was a pipe fitter and a member of Pipefitters Local 562 of St. Louis more than 60 years. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3838 of Cape Girardeau; a member of Cape Girardeau Eagles and Elks Club; and was involved in Veterans Now, an organization of veterans helping veterans. He enjoyed woodworking and painting.

He married Margaret Ann Bacon, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Edmond "Tex" Larmie and Chester "Chettie" Larmie; and a sister, Phyllis Ann Larmie.

Survivors include siblings Pat (Randy) Brooks of Auburndale, Fla., Garnell Friend and Barbara Swofford of Winter Haven, Fla., Peggy Gass and Robert (Shirley) Larmie of Poplar Bluff; and many nieces and nephews who loved him.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery, with full military honors conducted.
