Roderick "Derick" Eugene Teague Jr. passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Derick, a lifelong resident of Cape Girardeau, was born Jan. 1, 1983.
After graduating from Cape Girardeau Central High in 2001, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served our country in military intelligence until 2005. He was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, as a member of the 101st Airborne Division and was deployed to Iraq from 2003--2004. After his service, he was honorably discharged, having received multiple awards and medals. He was truly an American hero.
He graduated from the emergency medical technician program at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology School in 2015.
Derick loved to hunt and fish, but his passion was music. He was an amazing and talented musician, singer and writer. He recorded numerous songs and earned extra money during basic training by writing poems.
Survivors include his wife, Cori Teague; children, Caylee Alexandra (16), Trenton Jace (15), Emma Sue (11) and Wyatt Oliver (1), and stepson Kaleb Matthew Davis (8); parents, Vicki Clark Daniels of Cape Girardeau and Rocky (Mindy) Teague of Newburg, Missouri; brothers, Darin (Jessica) Teague of Jackson, Jeffrey (Jamie) Daniels of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Matthew (Nicole) Daniels of Cape Girardeau and Ricky (Megan) Teague of Newburg; maternal grandfather, the Rev. Doyle Wayne Randol; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Memories of this talented young man will be treasured by his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jesse William and Edna Marie Teague; and maternal grandmother, Alma Lucille Randol.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Calvary United Pentecostal Church, 581 Broadridge Drive, Jackson.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
