PERRYVILLE -- Dennis A. "Dixie" Wood, 78, of Perryville died Tuesday, July 15, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 30, 1919, in Perryville, the son of Prince Edward and Mary Marcella Richardet Wood. On June 10, 1939, he married Margaret L. Moranville in Perryville.
He was retired from the Wood Dairy Company.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Battle of the Bulge.
He belonged to the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Association of Retired Persons.
He belonged to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles Tom Wood of Perryville; a daughter, Helena Wood of Atlanta; two brothers, Perry and Melvin "Moe" Wood of Perryville, and two sisters, Ollie Streiler and Nellie Gibbar of Perryville.
Three brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. Thursday at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. A parish wake service will be at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Gerard P. Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
