Denist O. Gibson, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at his home.
He was born Nov. 26, 1931, in Middlebrook, Ark., son of Chester O. and Zelma Odom Gibson. He and Mary McCarty were married Aug. 12, 1952, at Illmo.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Jan. 15, 1951, to Jan. 14, 1954.
Gibson worked at Rhea Optical and the former Marquette Cement Plant in Cape Girardeau, and had started his own taxidermy business. He was a welding supply salesman, retiring from Airgas in Cape Girardeau in 1997.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Dennis Gibson of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Ordell Gibson of Doniphan, Mo.; a sister, Hester Griffin of Doniphan; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
