MOUNDS, Ill. -- Delores Carrington Honey, 65, of Mounds, formerly of Mound City, Ill., died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at her home in Mounds.
She was born April 14,1944, in Mound City. She was married to Glenn E. Honey and was a member of the First Methodist Church in Mound City and the Mound City Women's Club.
She was employed as a postal clerk at the U.S. post office in Cairo, Ill., and worked at the Cairo airport before her retirement.
Honey is survived by her husband, Glenn E. Honey, of Mounds; one son, Roy Thomas Carrington Jr. of Mound City; one stepdaughter, Deana Bennett of Thebes, Ill.; two stepsons, Todd Honey of Tamms and Wade Honey of Manhattan, Kan.; two sisters, Sue Strieby of Webster Groves, Mo., and Charlotte Moody of Fenton, Mo.; one half-brother, Joe Wathen of Festus, Mo.; one grandson, Nathan Carrington of Goreville, Ill.; four stepgrandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy T. Carrington Sr., in 1983, and her grandparents who raised her, Roy and Pearl Rothman. Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Buddy Walls officiating.
Burial will follow in Beechwood Cemetery at Mounds.
