SIKESTON -- Delcie M. Helms, 73, of 301 Virginia St. in Sikeston, died at 1:47 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born July 6, 1919, in New Madrid, to the late Daniel W. and Martha Jane Phegley. She was a housewife and homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Matthews.
On March 18, 1939, in New Madrid, she married William Helms Jr., who survives of the home in Sikeston. Other survivors are one son, William Helms III, Sikeston; one daughter, Glenda Sue Riley, Sikeston; one sister, Dorothy Taylor, New Madrid; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One sister and a grandson preceded her in death.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Services will be held in the Nunnelee Chapel at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Cecil Adams, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Matthews, officiating.
Burial will follow at the Matthews Cemetery in Matthews.
