CANALOU -- Delbert Henry Basinger, 80, of Canalou, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1992, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Jan. 5, 1911, at Parma, son of James Albert and Francis Willis Basinger. He and his wife, Ida Ellen, were married Dec. 4, 1933, in Pocahontas, Ark. She preceded him in death.
Basinger was a farmer with Henry Cain Farms.
Survivors include four sons, J.D. Basinger of Canalou, Carl Basinger of Sikeston, Charles and Allen Basinger of Matthews; five daughters, Shirley Wallace of Cape Girardeau, Mary Vincent, Ida Stokes and Wanda Hinshaw of Sikeston, Ola Basinger of LaForce; two brothers, Hobert Basinger of Lansing, Mich., Therman Basinger of Murphysboro, Ill.; three sisters, Offie Hunter and Lela Lawson of Canalou, Bertha Wren of Murphysboro; 18 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Mike Cartwright will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
