ST. MARY, Mo. -- Delano W. Mattingly, 80, of St. Mary died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville, Mo.

He was born Jan. 3, 1934, in Perry County, son of William R. and Georgia M. Boesch Mattingly. He and Shirley Evans were married June 7, 1958.

Delano was a livestock and agriculture farmer and a carpenter. He was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer, Mo. He helped build the first Busch Stadium and raised rabbits.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and seven daughters, Leonard (Jenny) Mattingly of Perryville, Brenda (Leonard) Ellis of Katy, Texas, Susan (Matt) Jenkins of Cape Girardeau, Rosalie (Michael) Blechle of St. Louis, Edward (Nancy) Mattingly of Pevely, Mo., Donna (Jerry) Woods of Festus, Mo., Rose Mary (Jeff) Weibrecht of Perryville, Patty (Brian) Baldwin of Pevely, Ronald (Meghan) Mattingly of Perryville and Kimberly (Troy) Pratt of Pevely; three sisters, Mary Ann Winterberg and Eleanor Mecker of Perryville and Glenda Eng of Highland Ranch, Colo.; 26 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sylvia Blessing and Virginia Finger.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. The wake will be tonight. The rosary will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ the Savior Church, with the Rev. Gerald Blessing officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
