NEW HAMBURG, Mo. -- Deborah Ann Holzum Kern, 60, of New Hamburg died Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at her home, surrounded by family. She was born Dec. 27, 1955, in Advance, Missouri, daughter of Fred J. and Theresa Wubker Holzum of Leopold, Missouri. She and Daniel R. Kern were married June 26, 1976, in Cape Girardeau.
She was an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and its St. Anne's Sodality.
Throughout her life, she loved helping others and was devoted to her family and friends.
Known for her wonderful cooking and giving nature, she donated many pies and baked goods to various charities to raise money for worthy causes. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Kyle and Jon-Erik (Kimberly) Kern of New Hamburg; four daughters, Kimberly Glessner of St. Louis, Julie Kern and Brittany Kern of New Hamburg and Brandi-Lynne Kern of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Joann (Dennis) Schrieber of Owasso, Oklahoma; a brother, Fred (Gina) Holzum of Cheyenne, Wyoming; a grandson; and three granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and a grandson.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant.
Burial will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in New Hamburg.
