POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Deborah J.Burton, 66, of Poplar Bluff peacefully passed away at her home Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, surrounded by her family, after a brief battle with cancer.

Debbie was born Nov. 7, 1954, in Cape Girardeau and was the daughter of Ronald and Joanna Jones of Jackson. They survive.

Also surviving is her husband of 28 years, Roger Burton; son, Eric (Jackie) Thilman of Harville, Missouri; stepdaughters, Felicia Burton of Farmington, Minnesota, and Brittany (Paul) Marino of Cary, North Carolina; sister, Rhonda (Arthur) Jones-Acklie of Franklin, Tennessee; mother-in-law, Wilma Duncan of Poplar Bluff; stepmother-in-law, Patsy Burton of Conroe, Texas; five grandchildren, Travis and Damian Thilman, Peyton Sherrian and Sophia and Nico Marino.

Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved her grandchildren very much and going on little trips with Travis and attending Damian's baseball and basketball games. She also loved visiting with Peyton, Sophia and Nico when the opportunity arose.

She was very active after retiring from the Missouri State Highway Patrol as the chief driver examiner for Troop E for 23 years. She drove for Southeast Missouri Transportation Service for nine more years after her retirement from the MSHP.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Willow Ridge Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff.

Funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brandon Spain officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery in Millersville, with Rev. Jimmy Corbin officiating. The cemetery address is 545 County Road 356, Millersville, MO 63766.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Debbie's name to United Cancer Assistance Network.
