David Sylvester Williams, 79, of Scott City died Friday, April 27, 2012, at his home.
He was born Aug. 24, 1932, in Sikeston, Mo., to John G. and Katie Ann Biby Williams. He married Janice Hope McCormick on Dec. 19, 1969, in Chaffee, Mo. She preceded him in death Aug. 25, 2000.
David was a heavy equipment operator with West Lake Quarry. He was a member of VFW Post 6407 in Scott City.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
David is survived by five sons, David W. Williams of Cape Girardeau, Danny Williams of Glenallen, Mo., Forrest Crawford and Joe Crawford of Scott City, Scott Crawford of Midland, Texas; two daughters, Karen Gilliam and Crystal Mansker of Marble Hill, Mo.; a sister, Peggy Clark of Oran, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, two brothers and a grandson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
