David Craig Tally, 64, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at his home after a struggle with liver cancer.

He was born Nov. 19, 1954, in Cairo, Illinois, to the late Jerry and Rita Sue Parker Tally.

David was born in Cairo and grew up in Mounds, Illinois.

He graduated from Meridian High School as salutatorian and then attended Southern Illinois University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. He returned to SIU to get a Bachelor of Science in computer science before going to work for American Airlines in the computer reservation system, "Sabre," in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for 17 years. He returned to school to obtain a Bachelor of Science in nursing from St. Louis University and then went to work for Barnes Hospital in St. Louis as a nurse. His latest occupation was with SoutheastHEALTH in the IT department, where his co-workers became like family to him.

David loved to work in his yard and enjoyed cooking. He also volunteered with the Missouri Department of Conservation in its outreach education programs.

Loving survivors include his sister, Mona (Craig) Wells of Cape Girardeau and their children, Kurt (Cathryn) Wells and Kyle Wells; sister-in-law, Rhonda Tally of Fayetteville, Tennessee, and her children, Ryan (Jesse) Tally and Nicky (Justin) Graham, and their children, Jacob and Logan Graham.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Richard "Dicky" Tally.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Stan Hargis officiating.
