David W. Seyer, 72, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at his home, after battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

On Feb. 11, 1950, he was born to Lawrence and Dorothy Schaefer Seyer in Cape Girardeau. In 1984, David married the love of his life, Jane Rolwing Seyer. Together, they raised two daughters, Chasady and Charity. In 2003, he lost that love when she died unexpectedly at the age of 46.

David graduated in 1968 from Jackson High School. He enjoyed attending sporting events with his family. His biggest interest was in the Jackson football team and held the same three reserved seats for many years. He and his brothers could sit and talk for hours about any sport.

David was a Godly man and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for 56 years. He lived as a Christian in all aspects of his life. He was a giving man, donating to many charities and the church throughout the years. He was kind and soft spoken, with a good ear for listening. He was not judgmental, and he spoke the truth. David was exactly what this world needs more of.

David graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in agribusiness. He worked for MFA Agri-Services for 13 1/2 years and was the assistant manager at the Jackson location. Later he went to work for Buzzi Unicem (formerly Lone Star) cement plant, where he retired after 25 years of service. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union (USW) Local 164.
