O'FALLON, Ill. -- David W. Popp, 56, of O'Fallon passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017, in Shiloh, Illinois.

He was born April 1, 1961, in Cape Girardeau.

David enlisted in the Air Force in July 1979 as an aerospace ground equipment mechanic. His assignments included command chief, Headquarters Air Combat Command and Headquarters Pacific Air Forces. David was a lifetime member of the Air Force Sergeants Association.

He lived his life to the fullest and had a true passion for fishing, biking, gardening, attending concerts and family gatherings, going to church at First Baptist O'Fallon and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his father, John W. Popp Jr.; maternal grandparents, W.H. and Kathryn Huber Daniels; and paternal grandparents, John W. and Irene Henderson Popp Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Aimee Cook Popp of O'Fallon; mother, Barbara A. Daniels Popp of Jackson; children, Jamie (Bryan) Kiefer and Blake D. (Shea) Popp, both of Jackson, and David W. Popp Jr. and Matt Popp, both of Dyersburg, Tennessee; stepchildren, Tyler (Rachel) French and Danielle (Ted) Correll, both of Belleville, Illinois; siblings, Steven (Terri) Popp of Jackson and Betsy (Norman) Schultz of Charlotte, North Carolina; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church O'Fallon, 1111 E. Highway 50 in O'Fallon.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with Pastor Doug Munton and the Rev. Skip Leininger officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, with full military honors.
