David "Indian" Petry, 62, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, July 13, 2020, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born March 23, 1958, in Imperial, Missouri, to Ted Francis and Charlotte Mueller Petry. He and Dianna L. Cooper were married May 17, 1980, at Cape Girardeau.
David's second family was the Misfits, the softball team he coached for 20 years.
He never met a stranger and had too many friends to mention. He was so good-hearted and would help anyone who needed it. David was a great storyteller and loved to make people laugh. Everyone who knew him, loved him. He will be greatly missed.
He was owner and operator of DP Logging for several years and also owned A&A Towing.
Survivors include his wife, Dianna L. Petry of Cape Girardeau; son, Joshua (Latisha) Petry of Cape Girardeau; sister, Terri Petry Jestus of Jackson; brother, Frank (Brenda) Petry of South Carolina; grandchildren, Hayle, Hannah and Hydie Petry; cousin, Kay Hale; and mother-in-law, Waneta "Ding-A-Ling" Cooper of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
