SCOTT CITY -- Funeral service for David "Poonie" McCormick of Scott City will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Rev. Larry Rouse will officiate, with burial in Lightner Cemetery.

Friends may call at the chapel after 3 p.m. Friday.

McCormick, 60, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1995, at his home.

He was born April 21, 1935, at Illmo, son of Forrest Columbus and Alma Idell O'Guin McCormick. He and Rebecca Ann Fowler were married Jan. 8, 1979, in Cape Girardeau.

McCormick was a truck driver with Potashnick Construction Co. in Cape Girardeau. He attended Clearview Baptist Church in Scott City, and was a member of Teamsters Local 574 in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Don Abernathy of Hesperia, Calif., David, Vincent and Jason McCormick of Cape Girardeau, Shawn McCormick of Scott City; six daughters, Marilyn Marich of Tinsley Park, Ill., Karolyn Smith of Belleville, Ill., Tonna Deal of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kimberly Davidson of Cape Girardeau, Angela Osborne of Gulfport, Miss., Tammy Hagan of Scott City; two brothers, Percy McCormick of Scott City, Dean McCormick of Gordonville; two sisters, Janice Williams of Scott City, Geraldine Jenkins of Fairview Heights, Ill.; 17 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother, sister and grandson.
