CHRISTOPHER, Ill. -- Funeral service for David Grubbs of Christopher, Ill., was Sunday, Oct. 16, 1994, at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher.
The Rev. Michael Sanders officiated, and burial was in the Mulkeytown Cemetery near Mulkeytown.
Grubbs, 91, formerly of Grand Chain, died Friday, Oct. 14, 1994, at the Herrin Hospital in Herrin.
He was born March 25, 1903, at Grand Chain, the son of Charles and Katherine Heisner Grubbs.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Christopher. A retired coal miner, he was a member of the United Mine Workers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Wilson Grubbs, on Jan. 14, 1992, by three sisters, Oma Jones, Lena Austin and Annie Grubbs, a brother, John Grubbs, and a grandson.
Survivors include a son, Delbert Grubbs of Christopher; a sister, Marie Krigsheuser of Karnak; a brother, Glenn Grubbs of Waterford, Calif.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
