John David Ford, 55, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at his home.

He was born March 6, 1960, in Cape Girardeau, to Billy Gene and Ruth Ann Ford. He and Sharon Little were married March 12, 1983, in Cape Girardeau.

David was a graduate of Central High School and held the high-jump record at the school several years. He was an active member at Bethany Baptist Church until his illness. He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher many years. He worked at Procter & Gamble 30 years. David was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed turkey and duck hunting. He was a well-loved girls softball coach many years.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Ford of Cape Girardeau; parents, Bill and Ruth Ann Ford of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, Erica (Brian) Anderson, Heather Ford (Jason Porter), Tara Ford and Whitney Ford, all of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Randy Ford (Stacey Storey) of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Debbie (the Rev. Jim) Matthews of Jackson; four grandchildren, Tyler Anderson, Brooke Anderson, Jack Ferrell and Elizabeth Roy, all of Cape Girardeau; and a very close lifetime friend, Johnny Vavak of Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Dr. Shawn Wasson officiating. Burial will be in Stroderville Cemetery at Whitewater.

Memorial contributions may be given to Bethany Baptist Church or Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Research Foundation at accrf.org.
