JACKSON -- David E. Murphy, 42, of Jackson died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at the St. Louis University Medical Center.
He was born March 25, 1956, at Cairo, Ill., son of David R. and Mary Alice Egner Murphy.
He married Pearla Skelton of Gordonville on Oct. 7, 1978, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville.
He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1976.
He was employed by KGMO radio in Cape Girardeau from January 1978 through December 1985, serving in various positions including program director, music director, operations manager, production director and news director.
He was a staff member of the late U.S. Rep. Bill Emerson from January 1986 to February 1992 and was director of Emerson's mobile office.
He was a member of the management team of KCGQ radio in Cape Girardeau from December 1994 to April 1996.
He worked in Jo Ann Emerson's campaign in 1996.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Paul Murphy of the home; a daughter, Dana Rae Murphy of the home; and his mother of Cairo, Ill.
He moved to Jackson in 1986 from Cape Girardeau.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with parish prayers at 7.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
The Rev. Edward Eftink will officiate, with burial in Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Gordonville.
