SAINT CHARLES, Mo. — David Lee Cato passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at SSM Saint Joseph Medical Center in Saint Charles. He was born April 11, 1936, to the late Rosetta Statler and the late James Cato. David was married to Laura Jean Williams for 46 years until she preceded him in death...

SAINT CHARLES, Mo. — David Lee Cato passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at SSM Saint Joseph Medical Center in Saint Charles.

He was born April 11, 1936, to the late Rosetta Statler and the late James Cato. David was married to Laura Jean Williams for 46 years until she preceded him in death.

He was very communicative and a hard worker. He worked with the railroad and later had an Amoco Service Station.

David never met a stranger. He retired and lived in Willow Springs, Missouri. Late in life, he moved from the farm to senior living at Lake Saint Charles in Saint Charles.

He leaves to cherish his memories a sister, Bonnie (Oscar) Bell; brother, Edgar (Harvella Jones) Mayham; sister, Paula (William) Edwards; godson, David Lee Williams; special partner, Cathy Robinson; and other relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his siblings, Mildred Stubbs, Jackie Cato and Mary Jo Gray.

A private gathering will be held at Lake Saint Charles Retirement and private interment in Cape Girardeau. David will be cremated, and his final resting place will be St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Cremation Society of Missouri is in charge of arrangements.
