David Charles Burnell Sr., 82, of Jackson died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee.
He was born July 20, 1941, in Waltham, Massachusetts, to Alfred Earl and Marie Welch Burnell.
He served four years in the U.S. Air Force.
David enjoyed stargazing and loved being with his dogs.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include sons, David (Carol) Burnell of Oklahoma and Brian (Ann) Burnell of Kentucky; daughter, Kimberly (Terry) Burnell of Tennessee; brother, Ricky (Kathy) Burnell of Massachusetts; sisters, Gail (Richard) Bates of Maine and Barbara (Ray) LeBlanc of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren, Brittany Sanders, Brandon Burnell, Kelli Burnell, Matt and Jon Dickens, Cody Simmons, Riley Simmons, Kirstan Robbins, Nicole Oliphant, Bailey Dowdy, Viola Lawson and Rachel Otten; and 13 great-grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Danny Burnell.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Kidney Foundation.
