GRAND TOWER, Ill. -- David R. Beggs Sr., 69, of Grand Tower died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital in Murphysboro, Ill.

He was born Jan. 13, 1931, at Fornfelt, Mo., son of Barney and Ora Greenlee Beggs. He married the former Goldie Fobard.

Beggs retired as a truck driver with East St. Louis Rendering Co. He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Dupo, Ill., and Teamsters Local 600. He was formerly of East Carondelet, Ill.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda Harvell of East Carondelet; two sons, Lawrence Beggs of Caseyville, Ill., David Beggs Jr. of East Carondelet; three sisters, Thelma Tucker of McClure, Ill., Virginia Webb of Granite City, Ill., Barbara Tanner of Jackson, Mo.; two brothers, James Beggs of Jackson, and Earl Dunning of O'Fallon, Mo.

Also surviving are four stepdaughters, Evelyn Dawson of Millstadt, Ill., Marie Herbert of Waterloo, Ill., Donnie Coyer of Chicago, Wanda McKenzie of Granite City; six stepsons, Jule Todd of St. Louis, Lloyd Todd of Kirkwood, Mo., Charlie, Larry and Robert Todd, all of Millstadt, Jim Todd of Bloomington, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Funeral was held Aug. 15 at Strauss Funeral Home in Millstadt. Burial was in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt.
