CAIRO, Ill. -- David Lee Banks, 63, of Cairo died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at Daystar Care Center. He was born Sept. 9, 1935, in rural Wyatt, Mo., son of Jesse and Martha Dowd Banks. He married Mary Welch. Banks had lived in Illinois 22 years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, David Banks of Kalamazoo, Mich., Kevin Banks of Cairo; five daughters, Kimberly and Arnetia Banks of Kalamazoo, Lisa Morgan of Detroit, Mich., Bertie Darnell of Canada, and Tracy Banks of Cairo...

CAIRO, Ill. -- David Lee Banks, 63, of Cairo died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at Daystar Care Center.

He was born Sept. 9, 1935, in rural Wyatt, Mo., son of Jesse and Martha Dowd Banks. He married Mary Welch.

Banks had lived in Illinois 22 years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, David Banks of Kalamazoo, Mich., Kevin Banks of Cairo; five daughters, Kimberly and Arnetia Banks of Kalamazoo, Lisa Morgan of Detroit, Mich., Bertie Darnell of Canada, and Tracy Banks of Cairo.

Also surviving are three brothers, John Jefferson of Benton Harbor, Mich., William Jefferson of Charleston, Mo., Matthew Jefferson of Danville; a sister, Emma Kent of Charleston, Mo.; and 18 grandchildren.

Friends may call at Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston from 7-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Opportunity Church of God in Christ, with the Rev. Richard Dowell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at Charleston.
