GRAND CHAIN, Ill. -- Dave Shumaker, 101, of Grand Chain died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Metropolis. GRAND CHAIN, Ill. -- Dave Shumaker, 101, of Grand Chain died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Metropolis.

He was born Aug. 5, 1897, at Grand Chain to John and Mary Guy Shumaker.

He was a retired farm laborer.

He was a member of Ohio Chapel United Methodist Church near Grand Chain.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy Petermichel of Olive Branch; one son, Leon Shumaker of Grand Chain; and five grandchildren. Five brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation is today from 6-9 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Ohio Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joey Dunning officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
