MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Darlene Emma Blackwell, 86, of Marble Hill passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Woodland Hills Nursing Home. She was born April 29, 1927, in Leonard, Texas, daughter of Cecil and Nina Mae Hinton Arnold. She and R.C. "Shorty" Blackwell were married Aug. 8, 1942. He passed away May 29, 2001...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Darlene Emma Blackwell, 86, of Marble Hill passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Woodland Hills Nursing Home.

She was born April 29, 1927, in Leonard, Texas, daughter of Cecil and Nina Mae Hinton Arnold. She and R.C. "Shorty" Blackwell were married Aug. 8, 1942. He passed away May 29, 2001.

Darlene taught Sunday school at Old Trace Creek Baptist Church early in her life and then became a member of White Oak Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Dale (Kim) Blackwell of Glenallen, Mo.; two daughters, Virginia (Moddy) Jaco of Jackson and Emmalene (Harold) Sitze of Puxico, Mo.; a brother, James Arnold of Maryville, Tenn.; three sisters, Anita Burridge of Maywood, Ill., Jane Hanson of Joliet, Ill., and Jean Zaremba of Prescott, Ariz.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Shelby and Larry Arnold; and a sister, Francis Dixon.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bobby Robbins officiating. Burial will be in McGee Chapel Cemetery near Glenallen.
