Daniel P. Strack, 81, 1535 Kingsbury, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1993, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Ill.
He was born Oct. 20, 1912, at Benton, son of Phillip and Caroline Weber Strack. He first married Elouise Harmon, who died in 1967. He later married Pearl Stout.
Strack was a precision instrument maker at Argone National Laboratories 22 years, retiring in 1977. He was a pioneer in EDM machining. An avid gardener, he received the Better Homes and Gardens trophy for three consecutive years in Chicago.
He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1985.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronald Strack of Shorewood, Ill.; two daughters, Connie Gardner and Carolyn Munley of New Lenox, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Deanna Zadick of Nashville, Tenn., Marguerite Whitright of Eau Gallie, Fla.; six brothers, Gil Strack of Cape Girardeau, John Strack of Elgin, Ill., Ben Strack of Ferguson, Dennis Strack of Elm Grove, Wis., Al Strack of Chicago, Leo Strack of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Clara Isaac of Chaffee, Mary Jackson of Sikeston; 13 grandchildren, and seven stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Glen Eftink will officiate, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Sunday. Parish prayers will be at 7:30.
