Daniel Downey

ANNA, Ill. -- Daniel G. Downey, 63, of Anna died Monday, May 24, 2004, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale in Carbondale, Ill.

He was born Nov. 13, 1940, in Chicago Heights, Ill., son of Frantz and Rosamond Yando Downey. He and Faye Runge were married Oct. 3, 1984, in Jonesboro, Ill.

Downey moved to Anna in 1981 and worked many years at Clyde L. Choate Mental Health and Development Center.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; his mother of Anna; two daughters, Tina Johnson and Kim Peterson of Steger, Ill.; a son, Daniel Downey of Crete, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Christina Webb of New Hope, Minn., Amber Grammer of Elkville, Ill.; two sisters, Carol Calderone of Chicago Heights, Linda Downey of Anna; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, with Ron Leske officiating. Burial will be private.
