Daniel Cope Jr., son of Daniel Jesse and Helen Louise Thurmond Cope Sr., was born July 17, 1939, in Blytheville, Arkansas, and departed his life Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at his home in Scott City at the age of 84 years.
He was of the Church of Christ faith and owner of Cope Trucking for several years.
On July 25, 1957, Daniel was united in marriage to Margaret Francis Stoffregen in Cape Girardeau, and to this union one son, Danny Ray Cope, was born. Margaret preceded him in death March 4, 2002. On Dec. 24, 2008, he married Bonnie Rose Link-Johnston, who preceded him in death Nov. 18, 2014.
Survivors include two sisters, Doris D. Moss of Jackson and Betty Jo Roth of Manchester; daughter-in-law, Patty Cope of Kelso; granddaughter, Danielle (Devin) Tucker of Kelso; great-granddaughter, Hayden Tucker; loving partner for several years, Mary Hickman of Scott City, and her son, Dr. Daniel Autrey of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and other relatives and friends.
Besides his wife and parents, Daniel was preceded in death by one son, Danny Ray Cope, and a brother, Thurman G. Cope.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 21, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral will be at 1: p.m. Friday, June 21, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lightner Cemetery.
