Funeral mass for Dallas E. "Gene" Howe, 220 Edgewood, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Lewis Hejna will officiate, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7, and KC rosary at 7:30.
Howe, 69, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Cape Girardeau, son of James and Alberta McAlexander Howe. He and Georgia Dannenmueller were married June 22, 1948, in Cape Girardeau.
Howe was employed 43 years with Missouri Utilities and Union Electric, retiring in 1991 as superintendent of transportation in the Southeast District.
He was a 1943 graduate of Central High School. He umpired baseball games for the Capahas, American Legion and Babe Ruth Tournaments for 20 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and Knights of Columbus. Howe served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-45.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Howe of Woodstock, Ga.; a daughter, Brenda Speidel of DeSoto; two brothers, Albert Howe of West Des Moines, Iowa, Paul Howe of Missoula, Mont., and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
