Daisy W. Niswonger, 83, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at her daughter's home in Cape Girardeau, where she had been living the past two years.
She was born Oct. 9, 1921, in Oak Ridge, daughter of Harry W. and Bertha Clingingsmith Skinner. She and Joe D. Niswonger were married Aug. 3, 1940. He passed away Sept. 9, 1986.
Daisy was a member of Red Star Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. She worked in the laundry department at Southeast Missouri Hospital from 1958 until her retirement in 1986.
Loving survivors include four daughters, Pat Moreno and husband David of Jackson, Mary Gayle Moore and husband Wayne, Marjorie Diane Craft, Ruth Ann Weibley and husband Don, all of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Warren and Ray Skinner of Jackson, Joe Skinner of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Mary Walters of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-stepgrandchild; three great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-stepgrandchild.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Virginia Lee Niswonger at birth; Wanda Coomer Newberry June 22, 2000; four brothers; and a sister.
There will be no visitation.
Public graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Niswonger Cemetery west of Millersville. Wayne Moore will officiate.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Red Star Baptist Church.
McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
