Cynthia Cole Marsh, 67, of Cape Girardeau peacefully passed away Thursday, Jan. 7,2021, at the Lutheran Home; she ended her long struggle with cancer, a burden now lifted by Our Lord.

She was born May 24, 1953, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Howard and Phyllis Weckerling Cole, a Cajun-German family. After high school, she graduated with a registered nursing degree from Charity Hospital in 1974.

She and Dr. Thomas Marsh were married in 1976, becoming a military mom for over 20 years. Settling in Cape Girardeau, she returned to clinical nursing at Landmark Hospital and Chateau Girardeau, advocating licensed practical nurses to transition to becoming registered nurses. She retired from nursing in 2014.

Cynthia was well known for intricate and delicate craft skills with gingerbread houses and sugar eggs, many of which are cherished items brought out every season and even awarded first prizes at county fairs.
