Curtis McIntire

Curtis E. McIntire, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at his home.

He was born June 6, 1921, at Little Prairie, Mo., son of Sam and Clare Mae Kerr McIntire. He and Audrey L. Grim were married June 27, 1942.

McIntire had worked at the former International Shoe Co. 23 years, and in the power plant at Southeast Missouri State University 21 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mary McGuire of Centralia, Ill., Nancy Skinner of Tucson, Ariz., Betty Rievley of Chaffee, Mo.; two sons, Larry McIntire of Scott City, Michael McIntire of Staunton, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Hobbs Chapel Cemetery with a military honors service.
