SIKESTON -- Curtis Byrd, 52, of Detroit, Mich., died Wednesday, May 11, 1994.
He was born March 30, 1942, in Geiger, Ala., son of Roosevelt and Marie Andrews Byrd. He and Lonnie V. Crawford were married in 1967.
Byrd was educated at Sikeston schools, and attended Grace Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
He was employed at Ford Motor Co. in River Rouge, Mich., from 1968-76. He was a realtor in the Detroit area 20 years, forming his own brokerage in 1977. He retired in 1992 because of ill health.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Donna Byrd, Lositene Crawford and Harriet Crawford of Detroit; four sons, Curtis Boyd Jr., Harold, Ivory and Ray Crawford of Detroit; five sisters, Dora Foster and Myra Dixon of Detroit, Helen Rucker and Hattie Hooper of Sikeston, Rebecca Brent of Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, Norman Byrd of Inkster, Mich., Stillie Byrd of Sikeston, and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Ponder Funeral Chapel, with Maurice Grimsley officiating. Burial will be in Haywood City Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to service time.
