The funeral for Crittie Merle Thorpe of Cape Girardeau will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jim Sanderson will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the chapel after 9 a.m. Monday.
Thorpe, 87, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 17, 1915, at Puxico, Mo., daughter of Henry and Ora Hickman Crabtree. She married Purl Wolters in 1937. He died Aug. 17, 1983. She and Ralph S. Thorpe were married June 29, 1996, in Cape Girardeau.
Thorpe received a bachelor of science degree from Southeast Missouri State University. She was a business teacher at Oran High School in Oran, Mo.
She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Hugh Wolters of Jefferson, Tenn.; three stepsons, John Thorpe of Santa Fe, N.M., William Thorpe of Cape Girardeau, David Thorpe of Boston, Mass.; a stepdaughter, Virginia "Ginny" Dolan of Eagle River, Alaska; two grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.
