JACKSON -- Cramer W. LaPierre, 92, of Carefree, Ariz., died Saturday, June 1, 1996, at his home.
He was born March 31, 1904, in Jackson, son of M.G. and Margaret Struthers LaPierre. He married the former Nancy Sage.
LaPierre attended Jackson schools, Southeast Missouri State University, and the University of Missouri.
He went to work for General Electric in 1924, developed the photoelectric recorder in 1937, and was appointed assistant engineer of the General Engineering and Consulting Laboratory in 1944.
In 1947 he became vice president in charge of engineering for the American Machine and Foundry Co. In 1949 he returned as assistant manager of the GE Aircraft Gas Turbine Division, was later named manager, then general manager and was elected a vice president of the company. He was named executive vice president in 1961. He held a number of patents covering measuring and electronic applications, and had written several papers for the American Institute of Electrical Engineers.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marjorie Jennings of Studio City, Calif., Mary Rhea of Avon Lake, Ohio, and three grandchildren.
Burial was in Carefree.
