MOREHOUSE, Mo. -- Corinne Getchell Crumpecker died peacefully at her home Sunday, May 28, 2017.

Corinne was born Aug. 6, 1923, in North Vassalboro, Maine. She was the daughter of Frank H. and Gertrude Poulin Getchell.

She joined the U.S. Navy WAVES after graduating from Winslow High School in Maine. She met Norman Crumpecker of Morehouse while they were both stationed in Washington, D.C., during World War II. The two married Jan. 28, 1946, in Rockville, Maryland, and soon moved to Morehouse.

She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking and socializing. She had many hobbies and liked to play cards, cook and quilt. She was a member of Vassalboro Historical Society, United Service Organization, American Legion Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star, various bridge clubs and the Bootheel Quilters Guild. In fact, her quilting abilities won her many prizes.

Her children remember her for her excellent cooking and baking skills -- especially her molasses cookies, for which she seemed to have a secret recipe.

She was a devoted member of the Rauch Spence Memorial United Methodist Church and a proud resident of the Morehouse community.

Survivors include her daughter, Sara Ramsey of New Madrid, Missouri, and three sons and their wives, Norman and Bonnie Crumpecker Jr. of Potosi, Missouri, Bill and Linda Crumpecker of Fairfax, Virginia, and Scott and Becky Crumpecker of Sikeston, Missouri. She also is survived by a sister, Betty Abbott of Fort Green, Florida; eight grandchildren, Cindy Hunt of Atlanta, Norman Crumpecker III of Morehouse, Heather Ryfa of Peachtree City, Georgia, Jenna Doering of Wellborn, Florida, Lauren Crumpecker of New York City, Nick Crumpecker of Newport News, Virginia, and Christian and Paige Crumpecker of Sikeston; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
