SIKESTON -- Cordie Bell Holmes Rogers, 90, of Benton, Ky., died Sunday, April 21, 1996, at Calloway County Hospital in Murray, Ky. She was born Aug. 24, 1905, in Ripley, Tenn., daughter of Albert and Mattie Johns Lovelace. She first married Henry Holmes in 1925. He died Dec. 4, 1956. She later married Marvin Ralph in 1974, who died in 1979. She and Lawrence T. "Pete" Rogers were married Jan. 4, 1981, at Sikeston...

SIKESTON -- Cordie Bell Holmes Rogers, 90, of Benton, Ky., died Sunday, April 21, 1996, at Calloway County Hospital in Murray, Ky.

She was born Aug. 24, 1905, in Ripley, Tenn., daughter of Albert and Mattie Johns Lovelace. She first married Henry Holmes in 1925. He died Dec. 4, 1956. She later married Marvin Ralph in 1974, who died in 1979. She and Lawrence T. "Pete" Rogers were married Jan. 4, 1981, at Sikeston.

Rogers was a cook 14 years at Missouri Delta Medical Center, and had been a cook at Lee Hunter Elementary School. She was a member of Bement Baptist Church near Sikeston.

Survivors include her husband; five sons, Thomas Holmes of Sikeston, J.W. Holmes of Grand Rivers, Ky., Albert Holmes of Hardin, Ky., Donald Holmes of Benton, Ky., Dewey Holmes of Bloomfield; a daughter, Clara Williams of Ooltewah, Tenn.; two brothers, Raymond Lovelace of Altheimer, Ark., Alvin Lovelace of Paducah, Ky.; two sisters, Lillie Sides of Sikeston, Reba Hodges of Springfield; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, sister and grandson.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dolan Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Armer Cemetery near Bertrand.
