CORA SHEARER

Memorial service for Cora Isabelle Copeman Shearer, 1256 Linden, will be held at 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Cy Smith will officiate.

Friends may call at the chapel after 6 p.m.

The body was cremated.

Shearer, 69, died Tuesday, July 1, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 28, 1927, in Genesce County, Mich., daughter of Carl Franklin and Zelma Anna Pauline Burnham Covert. She and John Floyd Shearer were married Feb. 21, 1972, in Mississippi. He died in August 1995.

Shearer moved to Missouri in 1957, to Brandon, Miss., in 1975, and returned to Missouri in 1997. She was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Brandon.

Survivors include a son, Carl Copeman of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Pauline Pierce of Cape Girardeau; a stepson, Devlin Shearer of Vicksburg, Miss.; two stepdaughters, Denise Shearer of Ridgeland, Miss., Diane Hooper of Alvin, Texas; a brother, John Covert of Sears, Mich.; a sister, Nettie Holtslander of Linden, Mich.; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a stepson and a brother.
