ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Concordia I. Voepel, 85, of Altenburg died Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 12, 1920, in Altenburg, daughter of Alfred and Theresia Hunt Meinz. She married Bernhardt W. Voepel, who died March 18, 1984.
Mrs. Voepel was former owner/operator of Johnny's Place and had worked in the laundry at the Lutheran Home. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice (Bill) Unger and Christine (Gary) Becker of Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Judy Voepel of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Edna Weinhold of Brazeau, Mo., Mabel Wilke of St. Louis, Lorna Bohnert of Altenburg; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Meinz of Altenburg.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Mark (Becky) Unger of Jackson, Michael Unger of Kansas City, Mo., Matthew (Sunday) Unger of Laurie, Mo., Jill Becker of Dexter, Mo., Beth Becker of Jackson, Eric and Anne Voepel of Columbia, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Anne Marie and Grace Unger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Ken Voepel; six brothers, Rudy, Henry, Edwin, Curt, Ellis, and Floyd Meinz; and a sister, Erna Frentzel.
Friends may call at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. today, and Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, with the Rev. Steven Dressler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
