Comfort K. Copeland, 85, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 2, 1912, at Gravel Hill, the daughter of William and Josie Kinder Slinkard.
She first married Utah Austin Sept. 2, 1933, in Cape Girardeau. He died in 1981. She then married Fred Copeland Sept. 7, 1984, in Cape Girardeau. He died in 1987.
She is survived by a brother, Lyman Slinkard of Cape Girardeau; and two sisters, Willa Minton and Sophia Tranell, both of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
She was a member of Gravel Hill United Methodist Church. She taught at the Williams Creek School for three years.
She also was a licensed hair dresser, worked at the old International Shoe Co. and was in business for years with the Starlite and Oak Lodge in Jackson and The Club on Good Hope.
She owned and operated her own beauty shop for a period of time and was a lifetime resident of the area.
Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating.
Burial will be at County Line Cemetery in Bollinger County.
