CAIRO, Ill. -- Comer Phillips, 59, of Cairo died Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
He was born June 30, 1947, in Cairo, son of George and Marie Dreisbach Phillips. He married Sandra Wyatt.
Phillips retired as resident engineer with Illinois Department of Transportation District 9. He recently worked for Clarida Engineering Consultants of Marion, Ill., and was a former writer for the Cairo Evening Citizen. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Cairo Elks Lodge 651.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cherie Pitcher of Cairo; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo from 5 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7:30.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Church, with Monsignor Bill McGhee officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge, Ill.
