GLENALLEN, Mo. -- Cole Devin Benfield, 16, was born Jan. 14, 1992, in Cape Girardeau, son of Edward Dennis and Gaylene McCormick Benfield. He died Nov. 19, 2008, in a vehicle accident near Glenallen.
Cole was a junior at Woodland High School in Marble Hill, Mo. A natural athlete, he played basketball and baseball for Woodland School, and summer baseball league and church basketball. He loved to hunt deer and turkey and socialize with friends.
He attended Christian Fellowship Church near Grassy and worked for Morris Lawn Service and Country Mart in Marble Hill.
Survivors include his parents; a brother, Travis Benfield of Glenallen; maternal grandparents, Harold and Thelma McCormick of Marble Hill; paternal grandparents, Leroy and Meredith Benfield of Willow Springs, Mo.; and great-grandmother, Lena Benfield of Marble Hill.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at New Salem Baptist Church near Marble Hill. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Bill McCormick officiating. Burial will be in Little Zion Cemetery near Willow Springs.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the funeral expense account at Bank of Missouri in Marble Hill.
