Clyde Edward Hanebrink, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Dec. 22, 1911, at Egypt Mills, Mo., son of Edward Henry and Laura L. Froemsdorf Hanebrink. He and Pauline Milburn were married June 5, 1938, at Cape County.
Hanebrink served in the Navy from June 29, 1944, to July 14, 1946. He was a teacher and principal for over 40 years, having taught at Indian Creek School, Kirkwood Jr. High and served at St. Louis City Public Schools as elementary principal. He was also a high school principal, teacher and coach in Morocco for one year. He moved back to Cape Girardeau after retiring in 1974.
He was a member of the National Education Association, the Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Phi Delta Kappa, American Legion Post 63, Southeast Missouri State University Foundation, President's Council, and Century Partner AARP. He was a charter member of Southeast Missouri Hospital Foundation, past president of Missouri Square Dancers Association and past vice-president of United Square Dancers of America. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Egypt Mills.
Survivors include his wife; three nephews, Larry Hanebrink and his wife Joyce of Chesterfield, Mo., Tom Miller and his wife Joyce of Cape Girardeau and Joel Farmer of Seattle, Wash.; one brother-in-law, Dallas Miller of Cape Girardeau; one sister-in-law, Gladys Hanebrink of Chesterfield; three great-nieces; and one great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence Hanebrink and one sister, Mae Miller.
Memorial contributions can be made at Saxony Lutheran High School, 804 N. Cape Rock Dr.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The Rev. Barry L. Pfanstiel will officiate, with burial in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery at Egypt Mills.
