ANNA, Ill. -- Clyde T. Elliot, 80, of Dongola, Ill., died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

He was born June 12, 1923, at Patoka, Ind., son of John and Emma Slauterback Elliot. He and Elsie Rider were married on Nov. 30, 1946.

Elliot served in the U.S. Marines in World War II from 1941-45. He was a member of VFW Post 6252 and the DAV chapter, both in Comstock, Mich. He retired from Consumers Power Company in Kalamazoo, Mich., after working there as a boiler operator for 29 years. He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church in Perks, Ill.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Nancy Kemp of Wellston, Mich.; four sons, Thomas Elliot of Perks, Jack Elliot of Ullin, Ill., Robert Elliot of Olmsted, Ill., and Fred Elliot of Cypress, Ill.; three sisters, Mary Allen of Patoka, Gladys Johnson of Battle Creek, Mich., and Alice Evans of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Michael Williams will officiate, with burial in Mount Pisgah Cemetery.
