ORAN, Mo. -- Clifford Joseph Metz, 93, of Oran passed away Friday, April 3, 2020, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.
Clifford was born Aug. 9, 1926, in Oran to the late Frank Metz and Stella Vogelbacher.
After graduating from Oran High School in 1944, he enlisted in the Army, where he obtained the rank of staff sergeant. He was honorably discharged in December 1946. On Nov. 20, 1965, Clifford married the love of his life, Betty Lou Heisserer. She preceded him in death Feb. 19, 2018.
Clifford owned and operated Metz Cleaners from 1950 to 1980. He then worked for Patrick Cleaners in Cape Girardeau.
Clifford was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Morley, Missouri, where he worked the weekly bingo for years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Heisserer; parents; and sister: Elvira Metz.
There will be a private family service Friday, with a memorial Mass at a later date. Burial will be at Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery in Oran.
