CARLSBAD, N.M. -- Clifford Ackman, 78, of Carlsbad died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Landsun Homes Health Care Center.
He was born May 8, 1920, at Neely's Landing, Mo., to Thomas Jefferson and Effie Foster Ackman.
He married Frieda Mae Pinkerton Oct. 25, 1941, at Neely's Landing. She died Nov. 3, 1997.
He was raised and educated in Missouri and owned and operated Ackman Brothers Grocery prior to moving to Carlsbad in 1951.
He was a superintendent at National Potash from 1952 until his retirement in 1980.
He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 1558, Good Samaritans of Los Amigos, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 30, and the Lake Carlsbad Senior Golf Association.
Survivors include one son, Mike Ackman of Carlsbad; one daughter, Catherine Reed of Carlsbad; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at Hillcrest United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery. West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
