Cletus Chandler, 77, of Jackson died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 25, 1932, in Bixby, Mo., son of Jim and Evie Turner Chandler. He and Rose Marie Cambron were married Aug. 16, 1952.
Chandler was a mechanic with Mississippi Lime 41 years, and a member of St. Mary City Council 30 years. He was a member of VFW Post 2210 and Quarry Workers Local 829.
He was a veteran of the Korean conflict.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Daniel (Alice) Chandler of Jackson; a daughter, Sandra Chandler of Cape Girardeau; a grandson, Jared Chandler of Jackson; and a brother, Jesse (Ruby) Chandler of Chester, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Edna Medley, Elsie Medley, Irene Lunsford, Susie Miner; and four brothers, Howard, Clyde, Lawrence and Leonard Chandler.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery at St. Mary, Mo.
Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
