CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Cleaster "Red" Townsend, 64, of Charleston died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.

She was born April 9, 1937, in Matthews, Mo., daughter of Cornelous and Gladys Rhodes McCauley. She married Cubie Lee Townsend June 24, 1960.

She attended school in Matthews and Texas Bend, Mo. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Charleston.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Steve Townsend of Atlanta, Ga., Cubie Lee Townsend Jr. of Goldsboro, N.C.; three daughters, Vickey Ward of Grafenwoehr, Germany, Audrey Franklin of Cape Girardeau, Pamela Townsend of Charleston; four brothers, Aaron, Billy, Johnny and Larry Worthey, all of Jackson, Mich.; five sisters, Shirley Worthy, Helen Cotton, Marilyn Staffney and Linda Worthy, all of Jackson, Mich., Mary Scott of Chicago Heights, Ill.; and 12 grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ, with Daniel E. Bell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
