CHAFFEE -- Funeral service for Claude E. Sullinger of Chaffee will be held at 1 p.m. today at Church of God. The Rev. Dale McKenzie will officiate, with burial in Fairview Cemetery near Arbor.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee from 8:30-10:45 a.m., and then at the church from 11 a.m. until service time.

Sullinger, 87, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 1997, at his home.

He was born March 24, 1910, in Advance, son of Elmon and Addie Hitt Sullinger. He and Maudlue Tidwell were married Dec. 12, 1931. She died July 19, 1978.

Sullinger was retired from the lasting department at Florsheim Shoe Co. in Chaffee. He was a member of Church of God.

Survivors include two sons, Cletus Sullinger of Arizona City, Ariz., Norman Sullinger of St. Peters; six daughters, Lois Cook, Joyce Smith, Doris White and Geneva Brown, all of Chaffee, Esther Morris of Cape Girardeau, Karen Buchheit of Jackson; a brother, Willis Sullinger of Advance; two sisters, Fern Noble and Wilma Miller of Advance; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, two grandchildren, a great-grandchild, two brothers, and two sisters.
